NEW POST under Halloween Post

It took me FOREVER to post our Yosemite Adventures, which I started before the Halloween one, but it will not post after it because it was started before it SO.... if you are interested, it is below Halloween. I spent way too much time on it for no one to see it! HAha!

Happy Halloween!!!

Cheesy Halloweeny Smile
Butterfly Baby -- (seriously this came together last second... or, maybe it was the butterfly spirit guide that made me do it? Hmmm.... -- ok seriously I did not do this because of the dang 'spirit guide thing!) HAha!

I am the butterfly hunter and I caught my first baby butterfly! (that is all Craig and I could come up with, camo is the only 'costume' that Craig will ever wear, besides a fish hat!) haha

Eedy and the adorable girls that I nanny at the Annual Lyn Rae Ward Halloween Party!!!

Eedy's first pony ride!

The Butterfly Gang! (Anyone remember the Buttercream Gang? 'Ol school, probably too old... oh man) The party was the Wednesday before Halloween and it was FREEZING! Butterfly Annie had the right idea. :)

Butterfly, Nana, Hippie

Halloween Day at 30th Ward's Halloween Party in the Allen's backyard!

Eedy loves her Papa

Papa loves his Eedy.

Trick or Treat! How 'bout dog? Edyn wanted the dog more than any candy...

The Kimball Haunted House! Dad comes up with the best ideas on Halloween night. This year the upstairs is 'on fire', he even carved those pumpkins in two seconds flat. Mom's awesome spider web, I love the cute Halloween stuff (as opposed to the nasty blood and gore Halloween side!).

The KGB got away in Chase's jeep with a pirate ghost at the helm blasting pirate music! It actually was pretty cool. ;)
The KGB will kill you AGAIN! Even after you're dead.... wah hahaha - evil cackles...
Eedy captured by SWAT!

Ghost Chase, Butterfly EedyBelle, Butterfly Hunters, KGB Hunter, SWAT Garrett

Later that night we had a spooky party at the Salmons! This house looks so much better on camera! HAha!

Our Halloweeny Masterpiece!
It was an awesome HALLOWEEN!!!

Yosemite Adventures

It's time for another
KIMBALL FAMILY ADVENTURE!!!!

That is how it all starts, it has to start that way. It wouldn't be the same without Dad's famous line as we pull out of the driveway, usually hours after the estimated time of departure, tired but happy, and usually closer to midnight than mid-day. I cherish that line. Believe it or not it has played a part in molding who I am. Adventure will always be etched into my life. With Dad's voice behind it.

This adventure was taking us to SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK and YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK! Let me be your guide...

We had a military escort part of the way there! YES, these adventures are that important for the well-being of our nation. :) Ok, there were about 20 of these sweet rides coasting along side us on a California free-way. One of the guys up top even turned and gave me a thumbs-up and smile when he saw the camera... and of course I missed it. But, it was definitely cool enough to share! HAha!

EedyBelle enjoying the view up top in the RV with her favorite Uncle Brayde! (One of those 'pull at my heart-strings' moments -- way too cute.)

We saw a bear in Sequoia!

We three trees...
The first of many Kimball (plus Perkins) family adventure photos. Here is a good time to say how much we missed Chase and Craig! Both stuck at home with school work and, more work. I hate that ASU doesn't take part in the great thing that is now October Break! Everyday we prayed for you and wished you were with us!
The pine cone from the tallest pine trees in the world, the grand Sugar Pine. Pretty awesome. Makes you wonder what the cones look like from the BIGGEST trees IN THE WORLD huh? Well let me show you...
Sequoia National Park is home to the LARGEST TREES IN THE WORLD! (This is by sheer mass, the Redwoods are the tallest, Sequoias are the LARGEST. Taller than 21 full grown huge elephants stacked on each other, taller than the space shuttle, the statue of Liberty, heavier than a blue whale, the list goes on. It really is quite fascinating. And look at that hugely disappointing cone, HAha, yes, they are that small.
Star baby... yes it was that cold. Chile on top Russia on the bottom. Her bini was a gift from Chase and his mission in Chile, and Hunter brought her back some genuine Babooshka-made booties from Russia. Don't they go well together! ;)

These trees had to be guarded back in the day...

That circular stone pattern represents the base of General Sherman, the largest tree in the world. Behold:

The world famous General Sherman tree. Pretty incredible, pictures really can't do it justice.
Thank goodness for Thumby.
Tree Huggers
Uncle Hunter proud that the Babooshka Booties were put to good use.

We are now entering Yosemite, and all its magical beauty...
Before and After pics here... Notice the river above was before we received a whopping 6 inches of rain in 24 hours... the below pic is the end result:
Just wait 'til you see the waterfalls...

Um, I think this is another angle of Half Dome... not too sure though. Ha.

The hike to Vernal Falls (before all that rain dang it!)

Autumn Sun in black and white
Vernal Falls in the distance.

Mom was happy to wait for us at the bridge with her book and avoid the 600 some odd stairs leading to the falls. :)

I call this Fall Colors on Rock... haha, the awesome Kimball man-boys parallel to the top of the falls. ;)
Yes, that fall was what we hiked hours to see... would have been absolutely incredible if we hiked after all the rain! Awesome granite cliffs though.

The men decided to continue upward, so Bridger was my buddy while I took Edyn back downward... she was such a good sport that whole time.

Mist Over Meadows (very original title huh. haha!)
Yosemite Falls... at the beginning of the 24 hour rain.... (keep this picture in mind):

An area called The Fen. (above)

Poncho Party anyone!?
Yosemite falls during the rain, with this gorgeous meadow and very picture-worthy autumn tree.
Love this tree.

Soon waterfalls were cascading down the enormous granite cliffs like warm icing down an equally enormous cinamin roll... hm, someone's hungry... ;)
A small view of the grand Ahwahnee Hotel in the heart of Yosemite... seriously this place was like Fancy Nancy in the woods... (if you have a little girl you know what I mean;) there was a man upstairs behind a desk by the elevators in a tux! = Jordy easily impressed? Oh did we stay here? Well OF COURSE we did... NOT! We are one with nature people! Ok its just a little out of our price range...

But wow, yes, Jordy was very impressed...

Yosemite Falls AFTER the rain...

Half Dome on a gorgeous day.

A replica of an Ahwahnee teepee... not built to meet Kimball height requirements (most Kimballs anyway, haha!)

A really big tree ring.

It is cool that you can actually touch something that old, just imagine what it witnessed in its lifetime...
Yosemite Falls again. I know I'm hilarious... I thought some of my pictures were good enough they just had to have my name on them! HAhaha!
It was a cool 'Family Tree' picture...

LOOK OUT! Oh, just your friendly neighborhood Yosemite grocery store bear... sorry.
Half Dome
All that water from 6 inches of rain. And Bridger. :)

Lover's Lane

Mirror Lake

Now that is a picture. 26 years down Lover's Lane there. Thanks Mom and Dad. :)

Quite the Couple

Oh Dear! or, deer... ( I know I am SO cheesy!)

The Fen in color.

Papa and his hiking buddy Eedy...

The newlyweds with their one baby... HAha

Goodbye Yosemite, we hope to see you again, someday.

Our Adventure was on it's way home now. We loved the majestic beauty of Yosemite, hiking the trails, riding bikes in the rain, reflecting, gazing up at this great grandure created by our gracious God, we loved the smell of autumn, the rain, the close quarters of our RV home, the memories we were so blessed to share and create with each other. Thank you Yosemite, thanks Mom and Dad, thank you especially to our Great Eternal Father.

A lake I can't remember the name of. We stopped here for dinner as our adventure moved closer to home.

And then we just couldn't resist! We HAD to go home through Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona.

Sedona's Oak Creek Canyon in the morning. Happy sleepy visitors..

A glimer of fall as we closer roam, back to the desert of dirt we call home!

Dancin' in September

Do you remember... when it was shy (?) September... love was chasin' (something something lala) remember... how we danced all the clouds away..... bah de dah surely you remember, bah de dah, DANCIN' in SEPTEMBER, bah de dah, never was a cloudy day.... bah do do bah doo bah do do bah doo..... One of my all time favorite songs. Thank you Earth Wind and Fi-ya!!! (Fire, but, ya know, my emphasis....) That seriously sums up our September. Dancing it away... it flew away, like some sort of secret ops, non-detectable jet... point is it went by way too fast. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Zach, Uncle Bill, Kendra, Anne, Whitney, Aunt Sonya, Annie, Toby (Craig's favorite dead dog that he mixes up his sister's birthday with), Dan, Uncle Frank, Edyn, Craig, Brayde, Tasha, Evelyn, Brielle, Bryan, and Garrett.... whew, hope I didn't forget anyone.

September 21, 2008

How I love this girl. I can't believe it's been a whole year since she came into our lives. Wide eyed, she gave two little cries and then just looked. Looked and examined everything as if to say, "Wow, I'm here, I made it into mortality. This is what Heavenly Father was preparing me for." She was so, so alert, so beautiful, and since each day has been a miracle and a joy. I have never felt more fulfilled, never felt such complete joy than the day I became a wife, then a mother. I now understand why only true service and sacrifice can bring the ultimate joy.
Me and my girl. I got sunshine on a cloudy day...

Hooray for FALL!!! (At least IN-doors) haha!

My first ever attempt at a creative cake! I was secretly sure I was going to fail. I am pretty proud of myself I guess... turned out way better than I thought it would.

The STORY BEHIND THE CAKE ~ I swore that I would stay away from butterflies (baby accessories etc..) when I was prego with Flower (Edyn in utero), they were just... over done. Then my mom found the cutest butterfly fabric to make her crib bedding out of... had to say yes (it was very hard to find really cute cordinating fabric for a crib mind you!). It really was adorable. At the hospital when Edyn was a day old they took her to the nursrey for her first photo shoot and the instant they set this little butterfly on her shoulder, she smiled, a full on, toothless grin.
Then when Edyn was a few months old our neighbor saw us pruning the peach tree and stopped to say hi. She is full Cherokee Indian and told me she saw people's 'spirit guides' and asked if she could share what Edyn's spirit guide was because she was so touched at how strong and tender her little spirit was. She said it was .... a butterfly. At that moment a little yellow butterfly landed on Edyn's arm!!! (HAhahaha, kidding, it just felt so right.... that last part... spirit guide thing, true story. ;) So, in honor of the past year I had to make a butterfly cake. A big thanks to tips from my awesome sister-in-laws and to my incredibly delectibly fun-loving 'lil sis Haley who came over to help!
Tribute to Edyn's Butterfly Spirit Guide -- in edible formation.
eh, why not throw in some cupcakes... (note: incredible home-made chocolate frosting recipe from my beloved Great Grandma Lillian Adams Grimshaw... thanks to her love of all things sugar.
Edyn and her buddy Gibson... and balloon.
Partay Time!!!
A big thanks to cousin Kyle for lending his breath...

The Party Scene
"Happy Birthday to Edyn, Happy Birthday to You"
Pround parent moment... 'wow honey, we made it this far'... big moment when you realize you CAN keep a kid alive and mostly happy for a whole year... maybe teach 'em a thing or two... from this point on the possibilities are endless! Haha!

Proud Nana and Papa with their EedyBelle
Is that bloody flesh!? Oh, sorry, strawberry... (DISCLAIMER: no animals were harmed in the making of this cake.)
Hmmm, first taste of frosting...
Little Miss Priss didn't want to get her hands dirty. :)
So Nana tried to shove her face into it... silly Nana.
Gibson looks a little concerned about eating the butterfly.
So does Edyn. This is seriously her first encounter with cake.
Cake no go. Trying cupcake.
Perkins men like their steak before cake. Hmmm, maybe that's what Edyn wanted.

Edyn sittin' pretty on Uncle Hunter's shoulders.

What awesome family we have! The cute Camille and Whitney even came! Oh, and Hunter came, out of his room... haha ;).

A baby doll for my baby doll. Nana knows all little girls need their baby dolls.
And from Mommy and Daddy to EedyBelle, a tutu, for the cutest little dancer in the world.
Eedy and Baby

STORY BEHIND THE TUTU: I learned how to make this tutu at an enrichment activity when Edyn was about 6 months old. I had tucked the material away thinking I was going to be moving soon and would have time later. I found it days before Edyn's birthday and frantically called my friend and neighbor, Shaunell, to ask her if she would again explain to me how to make it. She promptly acquired the material from me and said she wanted to make it and not to worry she would have it back to me in time. She lovingly refused my febal attempts to try to stop her and went to work adding cute little frills and flowers and making the cutest matching flower headband. This tutu is the cutest tutu I have honestly ever seen. I was so, so touched by her loving example and sisterly service to me! She is the kind of person that I am striving to someday be. She willingly and lovingly goes the extra mile for so many people without a second thought. I don't think she really knows the great impact she has had on me. Her kindness has made me want to be better in so many ways. Thank you Shaunell, so much.

I truly am blessed by my friends. Kara, thanks for partying with me and bringing a cute playmate for Edyn. I so LOVED that you were there! =D A kid's 1st birthday is more for the parents in a way huh. HAha!
Me and another incredible friend, Kimee. (I sure am lucky.)
Girly Bliss ~ A frilly tutu, an audience, and a rather large and noisy club thingy.

CRAIG'S 26TH BIRTHDAY
I call this the male version of the Sleeping Beauty cake... remember when the fairies tried to make her cake without magic and they had to prop it up against a broom stick to keep it from sliding and falling over? There you go. Hence the chop stick poking out of the top. It was a yellow and chocolate tiered cake, with home-made, great-grandma recipe, chocolate frosting. Oh yeah.
Craig's SUPRISE Birthday Party at Texas Roadhouse! He really was SO suprised. I found out this was only the second birthday party he's ever had in his whole life (sniff sniff, poor Cwaigy), so he wasn't expecting anything. He really loved it. Thanks to Jake M., Paul and Becca, and Sara and Jake S.!!!
I got him a green AR15 from the nice balloon man. Lock 'n load.

And with his frost-bitten ice cream scoop and a ride on the wild saddle, Craigy was a happy man. How I love my Craig.

Havasupai Adventure 2009

At the top of the switchbacks, ready to take it on! Which by the way was at 7am, after driving all night, starting at 1am... what are we nuts!? Apparently, oh, and related to my Dad.
(Jordyn, Brayden, Haley, Bridger, Dad)
The Honeymooners.... (first time on a trip without the EedyBaby!) Shout out to Dave and Jenny (ie. our REI headquarters) for outfitting us and giving me the honor of breaking in Jenny's brand new incredible pack! She was well taken care of and enjoyed her scenic adventure. ;)

The bottom of the switchbacks.... piece a cake...

Hunk Hubby and Peach, packin' in the love...

Real peace and serenity... except for the occasional helicopter flying into the canyon... every 30 min. or so...
Bonus points to the sweet and thoughtful hubby... may our spirits live forever on the canyon wall... (By the way, if we could get in trouble for that, its not real...;)
The NEW waterfall that took the place of Navajo Falls, which was, my favorite. It was a jungle paradise, like walking into a new world. Not anymore, but still beautiful. (For those of you that don't keep current on your Havasupai Canyon yearly updates, eh hem, about a year ago there was a MASSIVE flash flood that changed the entire layout of the river and the falls. My dad's friend was down here when it happened and they got flown out by black hawk helicopters. Cool stuff. Seriously though, it is pretty different now, but still beautiful.)

The New higher falls in the background, the new lower falls in the foreground. And me and my Awesome Adventure Dad.

I give you, the New Lower and still un-named falls... I shall call them Craigy, no Craigy can be the bigger fall, this is Edyn Falls... until the real name is revealed... =D
Our oh-so-pretty campground. A big thanks to the earlier crew that snatched it for us. This place was packed, as it was over Labor Day weekend. Most of the trees in the campground are dead, but the stream gives some green and beauty. Not to mention the awesome red rock cliffs that surround us.
Um, really sad that I don't have pictures of us at Mooney Falls, Hunter is working on that for me, and Whitney... right guys? Haha. So we cut our trip a full day short, and my hips and collar bone were bruised from packing it in 14 whole miles the previous day... so, we loaded up the pack mule, I shall call him... Hunter. The pack mule. Ok seriously he has two fully loaded packs tethered around him and a nice little caboose of a sleeping mat for added comfort. Hunter you da man. You saved my girly rear. Shoulders, hips, you get the point.

Well heck you might as well carry me too. What an awesome Brat! (I just found out that 'brat' literally means BROTHER in Russian! (mummble it under your breath and you just sounded Russian) I knew it had to mean that in some language! HAhaha! Hunter did a good job of keeping me in the dark with that one these last two years.)
The Incredible Early Crew... that we got to spend a full.... oh, was it even 24 hours... with? HA! We cut our adventure a full day short, but still had a blast together. Props to Brad and Hunter for creating the ultimate manly sleeping quarters! (A tarp covering the picnic table.) Wish I had a pic of that one... how many did they fit under there....? The crew included WHIT the WOMAN, Brad aka. Survivor Man, Hunter the Pack Mule, Jared the Incredible and Brett the BOMB Hardison. Oh, Chase and Garrett did make a 5 min. appearance the first day before they hit the heli and road-tripped it to Disney Land to suprise Chase's awesome girly, Sara, in her 1/2 marathon. There, you were mentioned. ;)

The church is true! And is also in Havasupai Canyon! Here lies the LDS church building nestled between the awesome canyon walls. Pretty wonderful.Cool partially dead tree. I like it. So does my Dad.

And, it's time to turn around and hike home... after one night, and maybe 3-4 hours at Mooney Falls... wow.
Oh to be 9... with a walking stick, near a cornfield. And we have 14 miles to go...

Goodbye Magical and Majestic Havasupai, until next time, which by the way, will be on the back of a horse, happily enjoying the view, not minding the stink, and beating the rest of you to camp by a full four hours. :)

Love is...

Exhausting...

(The pillow started out on her back (she sleeps on her tummy) because she wanted my hand on her back to fall asleep... so we put the pillow there to, ya know, let her and us get to sleep. This is how we found her in the morning.) Oh to sleep like a baby...
