It's time for anotherKIMBALL FAMILY ADVENTURE!!!!
That is how it all starts, it
has to start that way. It wouldn't be the same without
Dad's famous line as we pull out of the driveway, usually
hours after the estimated time of departure, tired but
happy, and usually closer to
midnight than mid-day. I cherish that line. Believe it or not it has
played a part in molding who I am.
Adventure will
always be
etched into my life. With Dad's voice behind it.
This
adventure was taking us to
SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK and YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK! Let me be your guide...
We had a military escort part of the way there!
YES, these
adventures are
that important for the
well-being of our nation. :) Ok, there were about
20 of these sweet rides coasting along side us on a
California free-way. One of the guys up top even turned and gave me a
thumbs-up and smile when he saw the camera... and of course I missed it. But, it was definitely
cool enough to share! HAha!
EedyBelle enjoying the view up top in the RV with her
favorite Uncle Brayde! (One of those '
pull at my heart-strings' moments -- way too cute.)
We saw a bear in Sequoia!
We three trees...
The first of many Kimball (plus Perkins) family adventure photos. Here is a good time to say how much we
missed Chase and Craig! Both stuck at home with school work and,
more work. I hate that ASU doesn't take part in the great thing that is now
October Break! Everyday we prayed for you and
wished you were with us!
The
pine cone from the tallest pine trees in the world, the grand
Sugar Pine. Pretty awesome. Makes you wonder what the cones look like from the
BIGGEST trees IN THE WORLD huh? Well let me show you...
Sequoia National Park is home to the
LARGEST TREES IN THE WORLD! (This is by sheer
mass, the
Redwoods are the tallest,
Sequoias are the LARGEST.
Taller than 21 full grown huge elephants stacked on each other, taller than the space shuttle, the statue of Liberty, heavier than a blue whale, the list goes on. It really is quite fascinating. And look at that
hugely disappointing cone, HAha, yes, they are that small.
Star baby... yes it was that cold.
Chile on top
Russia on the bottom. Her bini was a gift from Chase and his mission in Chile, and Hunter brought her back some genuine
Babooshka-made booties from Russia. Don't they go well together! ;)

These trees had to be guarded back in the day...

That circular stone pattern
represents the base of General Sherman, the
largest tree in the world.
Behold:
The world famous General Sherman tree. Pretty incredible, pictures really can't do it justice.

Thank goodness for
Thumby.
Tree Huggers
Uncle Hunter proud that the
Babooshka Booties were put to
good use.
We are now entering Yosemite, and
all its magical beauty...
Before and After pics here... Notice the
river above was
before we received a whopping 6 inches of rain in
24 hours... the below pic is the end result:
Just wait 'til you see the
waterfalls...
Um, I think this is another angle of Half Dome... not too sure though. Ha.
The hike to Vernal Falls (before all that rain dang it!)
Autumn Sun in black and white
Vernal Falls in the distance.

Mom was happy to wait for us at the bridge with her book and avoid the
600 some odd stairs leading to the falls. :)

I call this
Fall Colors on Rock... haha, the
awesome Kimball man-boys parallel to the top of the falls. ;)

Yes, that fall was
what we hiked hours to see... would have been absolutely incredible if we hiked
after all the rain! Awesome granite cliffs though.

The men decided to continue upward, so
Bridger was my buddy while I took Edyn back
downward... she was such a
good sport that whole time.
Mist Over Meadows (very original title huh. haha!)
Yosemite Falls... at the
beginning of the 24 hour rain.... (keep this picture in mind):

An area called
The Fen. (above)
Poncho Party anyone!?
Yosemite falls during the rain, with this
gorgeous meadow and very picture-worthy
autumn tree.
Love this tree.

Soon
waterfalls were cascading down the enormous granite cliffs like warm icing down an equally enormous cinamin roll... hm, someone's hungry... ;)
A small view of the grand Ahwahnee Hotel in the heart of Yosemite... seriously this place was like
Fancy Nancy in the woods... (if you have a little girl you know what I mean;) there was a
man upstairs behind a desk by the elevators in a
tux! = Jordy easily impressed? Oh did we stay here? Well
OF COURSE we did... NOT! We are
one with nature people! Ok its just a little out of our price range...

But wow, yes, Jordy was very impressed...
Yosemite Falls AFTER the rain...

Half Dome on a
gorgeous day.

A replica of an Ahwahnee teepee...
not built to meet
Kimball height requirements (most Kimballs anyway, haha!)

A really big tree ring.

It is cool that you can actually
touch something that old, just imagine what it witnessed in its lifetime...
Yosemite Falls again. I know I'm hilarious... I thought some of my pictures were good enough they just had to have my name on them! HAhaha!

It was a cool
'Family Tree' picture...
LOOK OUT! Oh, just your
friendly neighborhood Yosemite grocery store bear... sorry.
Half Dome
All that water from
6 inches of rain. And Bridger. :)
Lover's Lane

Mirror Lake

Now that is a picture. 26 years down Lover's Lane there.
Thanks Mom and Dad. :)

Quite the Couple
Oh Dear! or, deer... ( I know I am SO cheesy!)
The Fen in color.
Papa and his hiking buddy Eedy...
The newlyweds with their one baby... HAha

Goodbye Yosemite, we hope to see you again, someday.
